It has been a while since my last blog post, and for very good reason… I’m pleased to tell you that on the 6th of June I married my long-term partner in crime (Kit) and I am now Mrs Burrows!! To save on confusion I’m going to stay “Ms Pickard” for business purposes, for the time being at least.
We had a fantastic wedding day and a mad, fun, busy time in the run-up to the big day. The event was held in my parents-in-law’s field, with the ceremony at one end of the field and the reception hosted in a marquee at the other end. While this was great for the budget, it did require a lot of creative DIY-ing that meant my focus was on live client projects and wedding only.
There were many opportunities for using all those crazy/fun design ideas that we might not inflict on offer to other people, and I thought I would share a few with you here.
I absolutely love making things, as well as designing them, and the wedding was a great excuse to get baking, cake decorating, sign writing and much more!
Pop-up wedding invitations, engineered by Kit, watercolours by yours truly. Just because we can!
Our invitations (left) and save-the-dates (right). Brand consistency wasn't too high on our agenda... We had great fun designing the stationery.
Homemade wedding cake - yes, they are Lego cake toppers...
It's handy being great friends with a graphic designer! My bridesmaid, Hayley Alter, and I spent a super fun evening painting a bunch of signs for the field
We were also stoked that our good friend Jane Kenney (www.janekenney.co.uk) was able to make my wedding and engagement rings. This meant that I got to design my own rings, with Jane’s expert advice and guidance!
